Letters of Authority

A Letter of Authority is not a contract, it does not bind you to anything, nor

does it let us enter into an agreement or contract on your behalf or even commit your organisation in anyway. What it does do, is to show that you have instructed us to act on your behalf.

The letter is important because under the data protection act you have a right to confidentiality. Therefore suppliers will insist on seeing it before they give us the basic information about your account such as:

• Confirming that your supply or account number is correct
• Confirming what you are being charged, and how many units you are using per annum
• When your existing contract ends
• Whether any price rises are planned

All this information is necessary for us if we are to begin an effective tendering process on your behalf. The document also grants us the right to terminate your existing contract if we believe that you are likely to be the victim of a rollover.
